West Bromwich Albion are currently at the front of the queue to sign Huddersfield Town’s £15 million-rated striker Karlan Grant, according to TEAMtalk.

If Slaven Bilic could call on a forward as lethal as this former Charlton Athletic youngster, then it could have been the Baggies, rather than Leeds United, celebrating late into the flare-filled night.

West Brom might be the second-highest goal-scorers in the division, but it is telling that absolutely no one in their squad have come close to challenging Aleksandar Mitrovic and co for the Golden Boot.

In fact, top scorers Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu have just ten goals apiece while Kenneth Zohore, the floundering £8 million forward, has three to his name.

Compare that to the quicksilver Grant, who found the net 18 times for a Huddersfield side who flirted dangerously with successive relegations in 2019/20.

So, even if West Brom suffer a final day collapse and find themselves consigned to another sason of Championship football, Bilic is crying out for a new number nine – one capable of scoffing up the chances lovingly prepared on a silver platter by Matheus Pereira and co.

Fortunately, TEAMtalk claims that the Baggies are the club most likely to sign £15 million-rated Grant as things stand.

A penalty box poacher who loves to drift wide and make perfectly-timed driving runs into the six-yard box, the London-born 22-year-old feels like the final piece of Bilic’s jigsaw.

That £15 million fee, however, would require West Brom to make Grant their joint-record signing.

It feels unlikely that they would be able to splash out such an eye-watering amount without the riches that only Premier League football can provide.
