The Baggies are looking to steal the Manchester United midfielder from under Everton’s nose.
West Bromwich Albion have made a big move in the chase to sign Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United by firming up their interest with an official £18 million offer, according to the Telegraph.
It is widely thought that Schneiderlin, who cost United £24 million just 17 months ago, will be allowed to leave Old Trafford in January.
Everton are the favourites for the midfielder’s signature, with it being reported this week that the Merseyside club have been in talks with the Frenchman and his representatives for some time.
However, a spanner in the works of the Toffees’ attempts to secure a deal has been alleged interest from the Baggies, as Tony Pulis looks for a midfield enforcer to help his side kick on and establish themselves as a top-10 club.
Now, according to a new report from the Telegraph, Albion have made the biggest move of the chase so far by firming up their pursuit with an £18 million offer.
That bid would comfortably beat the £13 million record they set in signing Nacer Chadli in the summer, but whether it will be enough to get a deal done is questionable.
The Telegraph insists Everton are still at the front of the queue by virtue of their discussions with the player, and with the 27-year-old having played under Toffees boss Ronald Koeman at Southampton.
