Everton loanee Mason Holgate has done well since arriving at West Bromwich Albion on loan in January.
West Brom would be interested in attempting to sign Mason Holgate from Everton on a permanent basis should they manage to get promoted out of the Championship this term, according to a report from Birmingham Live.
Holgate joined the Baggies on loan during the January transfer window, and has arguably been one of the club’s best performers since his arrival at the Hawthorns.
The Toffees loanee has made nine Championship appearances at right-back for West Brom and contributed three assists. His performances have been outstanding on a couple of occasions, while his consistency and attitude has impressed many of the fans during his stay.
And Birmingham Live reports that should the club get promoted back to the Premier League at the end of the season, West Brom would be keen to try and make his move from Goodison Park a permanent one.
It is not clear how Everton would respond if a permanent bid came in. Holgate had struggled to break into Marco Silva’s plans this term, but he is still learning and developing, and right-back is arguably one area of the Toffees’ squad that will need strengthening in the future.
He is showing at West Brom that he has a lot of potential, so Everton would perhaps be taking a gamble if they decided to sanction a permanent exit over the coming months.
And for the Baggies, it would arguably be a very good piece of business to keep him beyond his loan spell. There is now just the small task of securing promotion that stands between them and perhaps putting an offer in for one of their better signings of the campaign.
