West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing William Carvalho from Real Betis in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been reported that the Portugal international defensive midfielder is among a number of players West Brom are looking to bring in this month.

The Baggies, who are in danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season, have discussed the possibility of securing the services of the 28-year-old, according to the report, which has added that they are in talks with Galatasaray over a loan deal for Senegal international striker Mbaye Diagne.

The report has claimed that Sam Allardyce’s West Brom are in talks with Celta de Vigo over a loan deal for Okay Yokuslu as well.

Slaven Bilic a big fan

Carvalho is at the top of his game at the moment and is an important player for Spanish club Betis.

According to WhoScored, the 28-year-old has made 10 starts and four substitute appearances in La Liga so far this season, scoring two goals in the process.

Former West Brom manager Slaven Bilic is a big fan of the Portugal international and wanted to sign the defensive midfielder when he was in charge of West Ham United.

Bilic told The Guardian back in August 2017 that he was confident of signing the midfielder for the Hammers from Sporting Lisbon, but a move did not materialise.
