West Bromwich Albion are looking into signing Angers defender Romain Thomas, according to Sky Sports.
A tall and powerful centre back, Thomas is a 28-year-old Frenchman who has spent the last three seasons at Angers having come through the French lower divisions. The defender was part of a side that made a huge impression in their return to the top flight last season after a number of years away.

The 28-year-old played in all but two of the club’s league matches, with the side astonishingly in the top three as late as February, before tailing off and finishing ninth eventually. He scored two goals, against Marseille and Bordeaux, and was linked with the Hawthorns earlier in the year by the Birmingham Mail.
Despite that late disappointment of their league finish, Angers would still be delighted with their performance and Thomas certainly played a major part in that, and he has started the club’s three league matches so far this season.

The Baggies are expected to be active today in some capacity, having completed the big money signing of Tottenham midfielder Nacer Chadli in the last couple of days.
The forward and midfield positions were the section of the squad that were expected to be improved upon, with left back also an area Tony Pulis is still expected to be looking at despite bringing in Brendan Galloway on loan.
