West Brom are interested in Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann as they prepare for a battle to try and keep hold of Jonny Evans during the January transfer window, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 24th December 2017; page 61).

The Baggies have offered Evans a new contract in an attempt to try and stave the interest coming from a number of their Premier League rivals, according to the Express and Star, but they are bracing themselves to potentially sell the former Manchester United man, who is set to attract a fee of around £30 million if he does leave.

West Brom fans would surely prefer to see the 29-year-old stay as, while they may end up having £30 million in their transfer kitty, there is certainly no guarantee that the money will be spent wisely as Alan Pardew’s men attempt to get themselves out of trouble in the Premier League.

But it appears that Pardew may already be considering potential replacements. One player who appears to be on their radar ahead of next month, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 24th December 2017; page 61), is Palace defender Dann.

The 30-year-old was an important player during Pardew’s tenure at Selhurst Park, and it appears that the Baggies boss could be eyeing up a move for Dann.

Dann certainly boasts the kind of experience that West Brom will lose if they do end up selling Evans, with the Palace stalwart just a handful of games away from making 200 appearances in the top flight.

He arguably played some of his best football at the highest level during Pardew’s tenure, so perhaps the Baggies boss may be hoping that he may be able to step up if he has a void to fill at the heart of his back four in January.
