The Premier League side’s search for a new striker has seen them turn to their Midlands rivals.
Aston Villa’s Jordan Ayew
According to ESPN, Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew could be offered an immediate return to the Premier League by West Bromwich Albion.
The Baggies are in serious need of adding some depth to their attacking ranks. Question marks continue to linger over Saido Berahino’s future (via ESPN), while Rickie Lambert largely failed to capture the imagination during his first year at the Hawthorns as he scored just in once in 19 league games.

With Victor Anichebe and Stephane Sessegnon being let go at the end of their contracts earlier this summer, there is no question that Tony Pulis needs to sign at least one more goalscorer before the window shuts, and ideally before their season kicks off against Crystal Palace next Saturday.
West Ham’s Diafra Sakho had appeared to be the man to fill the void, as ESPN claims that a move got right down to the finishing touches, but West Brom pulled out of a deal at the last minute as they were less than convinced about his fitness.

That has seen the Baggies apparently turn their attention to the 24-year-old. ESPN claims that the Villans want to keep hold of Ayew as they look to book their top flight return at the first attempt.
However, that is unlikely to deter their Midlands rivals from making a bid, and they will be hoping that the lure of playing at the highest level once again will be enough to tempt the Ghana international to make the switch.
Although Ayew’s first year in England was a disappointment as Villa went down without much of a fight, the forward was fairly impressive at times, scoring seven league goals.
And Pulis may feel that getting a stronger squad around him may prove to be the factor that helps the former Marseille man find his best form.
