West Bromwich Albion, Birmingham City and Middlesbrough are amongst the sides involved in the race to sign Bristol City defender Aden Flint.

According to the Daily Mail’s live transfer feed (31st August 2017; 7:31 am), Bristol City want £5 million for Aden Flint, who has been attracting the attention of a number of sides this summer.

Flint is arguably one of the most highly-rated centre-backs in the Championship, with the Mail reporting that the likes of Birmingham, Middlesbrough and Fulham are all monitoring his situation.

But the second tier trio will all have to see off competition from West Brom if they hope to win the race for his signature, the Mail reports, with Tony Pulis seemingly interested in bringing the 28-year-old to the Hawthorns.

But the Mail adds that any side keen on taking Flint away from Ashton Gate will have to part with £5 million as the Robins desperately try to keep hold of one of their most important players as the deadline looms.

Tony Pulis, Manager of West Bromwich Albion looks on prior to the Premier League match between Burnley and West Bromwich Albion at Turf Moor on August 19, 2017 in Burnley, England.

It seems possible that West Brom could have more than enough funds to meet City’s asking price should they sell Jonny Evans – with the Telegraph reporting that the Northern Irishman has attracted bids of £25 million and the Baggies could be looking for upward of £30 million for the former Manchester United man before they sanction a deal.

Should Pulis be looking at Flint as a potential Evans replacement – which may well not be the case given their lack of options at centre-back anyway, plus the fact that West Brom have only rejected bids for the latter so far – he would arguably be a decent addition.

Despite his lack of top flight experience, Flint has raised his game to suit every level he has played at – he was playing non-league football just seven years ago – and perhaps Pulis may feel that his impressive performances in the Championship hint that he could raise his game at the highest level.

And with Flint also more than capable of contributing going forward as well as at the back – he has scored 28 league goals in 170 appearances for Bristol City, including 14 during the 2014/15 campaign – it is arguably not difficult to see why City may be fielding offers from several different clubs during the final hours of the window.
