West Bromwich Albion are keen to land Watford striker Troy Deeney, and are hopeful about agreeing a fee lower than his £25 million asking price.

According to a report from the Telegraph, West Brom are hopeful that they may be able to sign Troy Deeney from Watford for less than the price they were previously quoted for the forward.
The Telegraph reports that the Hornets previously wanted £25 million for their captain, but the 29-year-old has only been on the pitch for a handful of minutes in the Premier League this term – with his one top flight appearance of the campaign so far coming in the latter stages of the stalemate with Brighton at the weekend – and there is no question that Marco Silva has plenty of options to pick from up top.
The Baggies are waiting in the wings and monitoring Deeney’s situation at Vicarage Road, and the Telegraph reports that Tony Pulis’ men are now hoping that the forward’s struggles to break into the side could tempt the Hornets into considering accepting a lower fee.
Given Deeney’s age, it would certainly be a major boost for West Brom if they were able to agree a deal for less than the Hornets’ previous asking price.
Though he has barely featured this term, he has reached double figures for top flight goals in the last two campaigns, so he could certainly be a positive addition to a West Brom squad that needed more goals last term, and has scored just twice in the league this campaign.
And with Deeney seemingly being somewhat written off by his current club, he would surely arrive fully determined to prove a point if he did secure a move to the Hawthorns.
