West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer.

According to a report from the Express and Star, West Brom are interested in speaking to Lee Bowyer about the manager’s job at the Hawthorns.

The Baggies have not had a permanent boss for almost three months, and their season came to an end more than three weeks ago. Nevertheless, they are still looking for Darren Moore’s permanent successor.

The Express and Star reports that West Brom have interviewed Slaven Bilic, and are interested in the likes of Chris Hughton and Chris Wilder. But the report is adding that they are now also keen on the Charlton boss and hope to speak to Bowyer about potentially making the move.

Bowyer has been a manager for little over a year, but has already enjoyed some success with the Addicks. He guided the club to a stunning League One play-off final victory this past season in his first full campaign in charge.

The Express and Star notes that Bowyer is out of contract at the Valley this summer. So while Charlton want to discuss new terms with the former Leeds United midfielder, West Brom could be in a strong position if Bowyer is willing to hold talks with the Baggies.

He has done an excellent job with the Addicks, but perhaps there will be some West Brom fans who are not too impressed with the rumours given his lack of experience and the way that so many names appear to be in the frame this long into the process.

While some of their rivals are getting stuck into the transfer market, the Baggies appear to still be some way off making an appointment, so the fans will be hoping that there is some substantial news emerging from the Hawthorns in the very near future.
