West Bromwich Albion failed in bids for Besiktas striker Cyle Larin and Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan, according to reports in Turkey.
With just a few hours left before the transfer window slams shut, the Baggies are running out of time if they want to strengthen a squad that finds itself nine points adrift of safety and crying out for a miracle akin to 2005’s ‘Great Escape’.
At least Mbaye Diagne, the 6ft 4in centre-forward signed on loan from Galatasaray, has already made his mark, producing an assist on debut in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Fulham.
But, according to Fanatik, Diagne wasn’t the only Super Lig striker on West Brom’s radar.

The Midlands-based outfit wanted to take Larin on an initial loan deal, one that would turn into a £9 million permanent transfer if the Canada international featured in 60 per cent of the Baggies games until the end of 2020/21.
However, with Besiktas fighting for the Turkish league title, the Istanbul-based giants rejected the chance to cash in on a forward who has contributed 15 goals in 24 games this season.
West Brom also offered £6.5 million for Fenerbahce’s midfield dynamo Tufan (Fanatik).
This too was rejected as Fener plan to sell their all-action playmaker for a fee in excess of £14 million in the summer.
