West Bromwich Albion are still in negotiations with Huddersfield Town over a deal for Karlan Grant, but there remains a disagreement over how the £17 million transfer fee should be paid, according to Yorkshire Live.
Two Premier League games down, 36 to go.
And if the Baggies are to escape that old cliché and avoid yo-yo-ing straight back into the Championship at the first time of asking, then Slaven Bilic, Luke Dowling and co must make their presence felt in the final two weeks of the transfer window.
With eight goals conceded in two matches, defensive improvements cannot come soon enough.
Although, with none of Bilic’s squad netting more than ten goals in the Championship last term, a lethal centre-forward could also be the difference between a 17th-place finish and a spot in the relegation zone.
The £17 million-rated Grant remains West Brom’s top target and, according to the Mail, he would jump at the chance to swap Huddersfield for The Hawthorns.

Agreeing a deal, however, is proving to be easier said than done.
Yorkshire Live suggests that Huddersfield want a bigger fee up front than West Brom are prepared to offer, with the top-flight newcomers seemingly keen to spread the payments into a series of instalments.
Grant, who netted 19 times in a struggling Huddersfield side last term, has been left out of the matchday squad for all three of their league games so far under new coach Carlos Corberan.
Andre Gray, Troy Deeney and Mbaye Niang are all alternative options – and they would probably come cheaper than £17 million too.
