Middlesbrough, Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen on Vidar Orn Kjartansson.

According to The Mirror, Middlesbrough, Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion are all interested in signing Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Vidar Orn Kjartansson.

Kjartansson, 28, made his name in his native Iceland with Selfoss, IBV and Fylkir, before a move to Norway with Valerenga saw him smash 31 goals in 33 games.

Since then, Kjartansson has headed to China with Jiangsu Sainty, Sweden with Molde and Israel with Maccabi Tel Aviv, and his record of 42 goals in two seasons with the latter is now sparking interest.

The Mirror now report that three Championship clubs – Middlesbrough, Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion – are interested in snapping up Kjartansson before the August transfer deadline.

Kjartansson is available for £3.5million according to the report, which may leave Boro and West Brom as the favourites given QPR’s budget restraints this summer.

That would leave West Brom fighting former boss Tony Pulis for the striker, and it’s no great secret that the Baggies desperately need attacking reinforcements regardless of Salomon Rondon’s future, and Kjartansson fits the bill.

QPR’s hopes may rest on Kjartansson wanting a reunion with manager Steve McClaren, having worked briefly together at Maccabi Tel Aviv last season – and we could see all three clubs move for his signature in the coming weeks.
