According to a report from the Daily Mail, West Brom are plotting a move for Fleetwood Town midfielder Kyle Dempsey as Darren Moore begins to make plans for life in the Championship.

Moore has recently been confirmed as the permanent head coach at The Hawthorns after a stunning run of form that gave the Baggies an outside chance of staying up during the latter stages of this past season that no-one expected them to have.

Unfortunately, it was not enough to keep the club up and West Brom are now wasting little time getting some targets identified for their first season in the second tier since 2009-10.

The Mail reports that Dempsey is one of the players that Moore is keen to sign this summer. The central midfielder was a stalwart was a key part of Fleetwood’s side in League One this past season, making 45 league appearances.

The midfielder scored once and provided five assists, and the Mail adds that Wigan Athletic and Bristol City are both keen on bagging the 22-year-old’s signature during the coming months.

With West Brom’s squad, on paper, significantly better than a team that spends much of the campaign below the drop-zone line, it seems likely that Moore will be expecting a large number of bids for some of his squad, so it is little surprise that the Baggies are eyeing a player who could bolster an area where the side currently look strong.

Dempsey is also versatile. He could also play slightly further forward or on the left side of the midfield, so perhaps Moore may be hoping that he could potentially prove to be a very shrewd signing for the Baggies should they manage to get a deal done.
