West Bromwich Albion are reportedly hoping that they may be able to convince Joel Ward to move to The Hawthorns.
The Baggies have endured a mixed start to the new Championship season. Darren Moore’s men were shocked on the opening day by Bolton and needed to improve dramatically in the latter stages to earn a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in midweek.
They do now have their first win under their belt however, as they beat Norwich City 4-3 at Carrow Road on Saturday. But, as the scoreline suggests, there appears to still be plenty of work for Moore to do before the loan window closes at the end of the month.
Right-back certainly appears to remain a major priority for the Baggies boss. Allan Nyom was poor against the Canaries, and loanee Tosin Adarabioyo endured a difficult night at the City Ground when deployed out wide.
The Sun on Sunday adds that Palace could be willing to send the Englishman to The Hawthorns on loan, but could be looking for a significant loan fee or would want an agreement that the Baggies will buy him permanently next summer.
If West Brom are able to agree terms with Palace, then it would arguably be a very good piece of business from the Baggies. Ward is not a headline-grabber by any means, but his arrival would undoubtedly see the side improve in an area where they arguably look vulnerable.
His versatility and experience – he has made 160 Premier League appearances for the Eagles – would seemingly make him a very good addition as West Brom look to capitalise on their first win and potentially put together a promotion push.
