West Bromwich Albion are looking to sneak in ahead of Aston Villa in the race to sign John Terry.
John Terry
A report from Sky Sports has suggested that West Brom have now entered talks with John Terry about a summer switch to the Hawthorns.
Terry is now a free agent after bringing the curtain down on his 22-year association with Chelsea at the end of this past season, and has recently been linked with a move to Aston Villa.

However, while Sky Sports believes that the 36-year-old would consider joining the Championship side, it appears that the Baggies are ready to hand the former England skipper the chance to stay in the Premier League, having begun talks with the centre-back about a potential deal.
Sky Sports adds that Terry’s wages could prove to be a stumbling block for both sides as they look to try and complete a deal.

Although Terry has been one of the Premier League’s greatest ever defenders during his time at Stamford Bridge, and that experience could be beneficial if the talks with West Brom lead to him signing for the club, it would be a surprise if a potential deal was met with an overwhelmingly positive reaction.
The veteran only played a peripheral role on the pitch this past season, so it is arguably a gamble to make a move when his arrival is likely to dent the wage budget significantly and he would be moving into a defensive line that could perhaps do with having the average age brought down.
