West Bromwich Albion are set to test the waters with a £4 million bid for Callum Robinson while Oliver Burke could be sent to Sheffield United as part of the deal, according to reports.
Talk about killing two birds with one stone.
If the Baggies can re-sign their star loanee for half his £8 million price-tag, while getting a high-earning forgotten man off the wage bill, then Slaven Bilic, Luke Dowling and co could give themselves an almighty pat on the back.
Robinson was a revelation during a short-term spell at The Hawthorns in the second half of last season, providing a goal and an assist during the 2-2 final day draw with QPR which secured West Brom’s place back in the Premier League.
“He is dangerous,” Bilic told WBA’s official website of a man he, understandably, would love to sign on a permanent deal.
“Callum was not a gamble. He was on our radar over the summer. He’s exactly the type of player that we wanted.”
The Sun (23 August, page 61) reports that West Brom only want to pay half of the £8 million fee Sheffield United are demanding, but they have a trick up their sleeve.

According to the Express and Star, the Midland giants are in talks over a deal which would see £15 million misfit Burke swap his Hawthorns nightmare and link up with Chris Wilder at Bramall Lane as a makeweight in the Robinson deal.
If anyone can get Burke’s once promising career back on track, it is a coach who has turned Enda Stevens, George Baldock, John Egan and John Fleck into bona fide Premier League stars.
The Scotland international winger, who set West Brom and RB Leipzig back a combined £28 million, has spent time on loan at Celtic and Alaves since the start of 2019.
