West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace and Southampton are all amongst the sides interested in signing Aleksandar Prijovic.

West Brom, Crystal Palace and Southampton are all vying to sign Aleksandar Prijovic during the January transfer window, according to a report from The Sunday People (09/12; page 52).

Prijovic has enjoyed an excellent spell with PAOK. The 28-year-old has scored 33 goals in 44 league games in Greece and is now being lined up by a number of sides ahead of next month’s window.

The Sunday People (09/12; page 52) reports that the Baggies, Saints and Eagles are all interested in signing the former Derby man, while Middlesbrough are also keen on a potential deal.

Prijovic is undoubtedly playing the best football of his career right now, having only managed to reach double figures for league goals in a season once before.

Southampton and Palace targeting a new striker in January is absolutely no surprise. The two sides have scored 13 goals each this term and find themselves in the relegation mix heading into the busy Christmas period.

Meanwhile, despite Boro finding themselves in the top six in the Championship, Tony Pulis’ men are the lowest goalscorers in the top-half of the second tier with just 23 goals coming in 21 games. In fact, only four sides in the league have scored fewer goals.

The Baggies, on the other hand, are the division’s most lethal side with 44 strikes already. Darren Moore perhaps feels that adding Prijovic would be the icing on the cake, but the fans would be forgiven for feeling that he should be prioritising issues at the other end of the pitch with just one clean sheet kept in the league so far.
