West Bromwich Albion have contacted Championship rivals Nottingham Forest over the availability of their sporting director.
The Express and Star reports that the Baggies are looking for a new technical director after Nick Hammond’s departure in April and Giuliano Terraneo’s exit which came even sooner than the club were initially expecting when they appointed him on a temporary basis.
And it appears that Dowling may be the man that they wish to lure to The Hawthorns. The Express and Star reports that the Baggies have been in contact with Forest regarding a potential move for him seven months after his arrival at the City Ground.
Dowling arrived before the current owners at Forest came in, and the report alludes to the fact that they looked to Jorge Mendes for much of their summer plans – perhaps hinting that a move away could potentially suit all parties.
The Express and Star adds West Brom want to begin preparations for the January transfer window as swiftly as possible, so perhaps it should not be a great surprise if the situation is resolved one or the other in the very near future.
Darren Moore’s men have recovered from a lacklustre start in the Championship – which included a 1-1 draw at the City Ground – and now appear to be edging towards becoming the team that many would have feared before the season began. Forest meanwhile, will have gone over a month without a league win by the time they face Swansea in their first game after the international break.
