According to The Telegraph, West Brom have already made contact with Chris Wilder as the Baggies search for Sam Allardyce’s replacement.
The Telegraph‘s news comes after Allardyce decided to step down from his role at the Hawthorns, as he felt unable to commit his long-term future.
Now, West Brom plan to hold talks with Wilder after reaching out to the 53-year-old.
The Baggies are reluctant to pay compensation to get a manager out of his existing contract, so are primarily searching for free agents.
In that respect, Wilder fits the bill perfectly.
The Telegraph add that Allardyce will be consulted on his thoughts regarding who he thinks should replace him in the Midlands.

Frank Lampard is also being considered by Luke Dowling, although he is also in contention for the Crystal Palace job.
In our view, Wilder has to be appointed.
The Englishman did a superb job with Sheffield United, helping them out of League One to eventually reach the dizzy heights of the Premier League.
Across his career, Wilder has won 241 games as a manager, which is mightily impressive.

He has watched his teams score 781 goals, while conceding 670.
Wilder averages 1.56 points per game across his managerial career, and has all the tools needed to guide West Brom back into the Premier League.
If Dowling hires the Stocksbridge-born manager, surely there will be few complaints.
