West Bromwich Albion are looking to bring Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers to the Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion have failed with an initial £2.2 million bid for Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers, according to Sky Sports.
It’s been a busy few days at The Hawthorns. Around £10 million has been spent on adding Kenneth Zohore and Semi Ajayi to Slaven Bilic’s squad while QPR right-back Darnell Furlong is expected to sign too for £1.5 million.
And The Baggies’ next task as they look to put together a promotion-winning squad is to bring Sawyers back to West Bromwich.
The skilful midfielder spent nine years in West Brom’s reserves without ever making a league appearance. But six years after he left to join Walsall, he could make an emotional return – though West Brom will have to do a lot better than £2.2 million.
Sky claims that Brentford want £3 million for a playmaker whose excellent passing range makes him a perfect fit for a Baggies team who are likely to be possession-heavy and free-flowing under Bilic next season.

And Bilic will be hoping that the lure of The Hawthorns is too good for Sawyers to turn down. Because a player who has spent most of his career in the English lower leagues should be tempted by the idea of lifting trophies and playing Champions League football at Celtic.
The Hoops are still interested and, for £3 million, Neil Lennon would have a midfielder capable of carving apart Scottish Premiership defences with ease.
