West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough have reportedly joined the race to sign Karlan Grant.
Grant has enjoyed a superb season in League One with Charlton Athletic, scoring 14 goals in 27 third tier games this season. But unfortunately for Lee Bowyer’s men, his future at The Valley looks to be in some doubt.
The Daily Mail (23/1; page 65) reports that Grant’s contract expires in the summer and the Addicks could be willing to let him go for £2 million this month, with West Brom, Boro and Huddersfield Town all keen on signing the forward.
The Baggies have had no problem finding the back of the net this season. Darren Moore’s side have scored more goals than any other side in the Championship, including Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough.
Boro have actually only scored 31 goals in 28 games. That leaves them 26 strikes adrift of the team that only sit three points clear of them in the table.
Huddersfield meanwhile, have only found the back of the net 13 times in the top flight this season. Grant would clearly not address all of their issues, but he is a player who appears to have a very exciting future ahead of him.
And with two of the Championship’s top six interested in the youngster, perhaps his decision on his future could have an impact on the promotion race this term.
