West Bromwich Albion and Burnley are among the clubs interested in signing Lyle Taylor with his contract due to expire at the end of this month, according to West London Sport.

A late-blooming 30-year-old has found himself at the heart of a storm in recent times. Then again, he would have known that a backlash was coming his way.

With Charlton stuck in the Championship relegation zone and needing their top scorer more than ever, Taylor made the controversial decision to turn his back on the club that pay his wages with their second-tier status on the line.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 11-goal striker explains that he is terrified of suffering a serious injury which would scupper his chances of securing a once-in-a-lifetime transfer.

A man who has spent much of his career in non-league and north of the border could find himself playing Premier League football for the very first time next season, with West London Sport claiming that Sean Dyche’s Burnley are interested.

As are West Brom and Brentford, two clubs who look well placed to secure promotion to the Promised Land.

The report adds that Thomas Frank’s Brentford are set to make an imminent offer, having made a bid in excess of £3 million last August.

And while Taylor is not exactly Mr Popular right now, his goalscoring record cannot be debated. It was his 25 goals who fired Charlton back into the Championship last season and, with 11 efforts in 22 starts this, he has done his best to keep them there too.
