West Bromwich Albion star Oliver Burke is being pursued by their Championship rivals, with a loan bid in the offing.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (30/12; page 57), Oliver Burke could leave West Brom on loan during the January transfer window, with Millwall hoping to land the winger.

Burke has endured an extremely disappointing spell at The Hawthorns. The 21-year-old has not started a game in the Championship this season, and has been brought off the bench on just three occasions.

The Sun on Sunday (30/12; page 57) reports that he will be given the green light to leave the Baggies when the window opens next month. And the Lions are hoping that they can get a deal across the line.

Neil Harris’ side sit just outside the bottom three in the second tier having won their last two games. And if Darren Moore does not intend to use the wide-man, it could be an inspired move to let him head to The Den.

Unless something incredible happens, West Brom and Millwall will not be competing with each other in the promotion race this term. So Burke could still prove to be a secret weapon for the Baggies.

He could help Harris’ men take points off some of West Brom’s promotion rivals – Burke certainly has the quality to make a devastating impact – before returning in the summer with a much-needed confidence boost.
