According to The Scottish Sun, Paris Saint-Germain forward Timothy Weah is hoping to complete a medical with Celtic in the coming days.

Celtic lost 1-0 to Rangers on Saturday afternoon, and find themselves in a real fight for the title for the first time in a while.

With Odsonned Edouard not fit to start, Celtic’s lack of attacking options really hurt them at Ibrox, with Leigh Griffiths taking time out of the game.

In recent days, Celtic have been strongly linked with a move for PSG talent Weah, and a deal appears to be close.

The Scottish Sun report that Weah has rejected a move to fellow French side Amiens, in the hope of securing a loan deal with Celtic instead.

It’s added that Weah hopes to complete a medical within the next week, and looks set to become Celtic’s first January signing.

Weah, 18, is one of Europe’s top young forwards, and has already featured for the United States national team as well as PSG’s first team.

Celtic boss Rodgers has discussed the deal, revealing to The Herald that Weah has visited Celtic’s Lennoxtown training ground in a secret trip, admitting that Celtic are attempting to tie up a deal.

“We have good relations with PSG, so he came over and he had a great day here,” said Rodgers. “He sent me a lovely message afterwards thanking everyone and saying that he enjoyed it, so we shall see. They clearly want him to go on loan to get experience, and he is a good kid, a great boy with sensible head.”

“There are lots of selling factors for him to come here. The club, the supporters, the intensity, the pressure, the style of football and people that he knows. He’s an international player who can play in a couple of positions at the top of the field, so if it comes off, it can be a great signing for us. We’ll just see how that develops,” he added.
