Wayne Rooney is allegedly closing in on a move back to Everton.
According to The Sun, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been pulled from the club’s upcoming US tour as he is closing in on a move back to Everton.
Rooney, 31, became United’s all-time leading goalscorer last season, and he has now scored 253 goals in 559 games in all competitions since joining the Red Devils back in 2004.

After starting just 15 Premier League games under Jose Mourinho last season, many have expected Rooney to leave United this summer, and The Sun claim that he has been withdrawn from the club’s tour of the United States.
The reason for that, the report claims, is that Rooney is expected to return to former club Everton this week, with a deal allegedly close to completion.
Rooney came up through the ranks with his boyhood club Everton, scoring 17 goals in 77 games before completing his blockbuster move to Manchester United after his exploits Euro 2004.

Everton have splashed the cash this summer by signing Jordan Pickford, Nathangelo Markelo, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez and Henry Onyekuru, and may just do it again for Rooney.
It’s claimed that Rooney will be paid an eye-watering £250,000-a-week at Everton over a two-year deal, with an option of a third – and if this shock report is true, Rooney could make a stunning return to Goodison Park.
