Premier League legend Wayne Rooney looked to be a certain departure from Everton this summer, but things appear to have changed with the exit of Sam Allardyce.
Wayne Rooney looked all but set to leave Everton this summer and join Major League Soccer outfit DC United on a reported £300,000-a-week deal; having said goodbyes to teammates last week.
However, it looks as though the departure of Sam Allardyce may have changed his plans, according to The Sun.
Rooney, 32, now intends to find out whether he can get back to playing regular football under the tutelage of the new manager, after a barren run under Sam Allardyce.
The Manchester United all-time leading goalscorer had refuted claims that he and Allardyce had a hostile relationship in their six months together, but the former England manager is said to have told Rooney he would again struggle for playing time next term.
The veteran forward was evidently furious after being substituted in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park last season, and after directing expletives his managers way, it looked like his time with the club was coming to its premature end.
However, should the new manager come in and provide Rooney with the promise of regular minutes, we could very well see him delay his move across the pond, and continue chasing up Alan Shearer’s Premier League scoring record.
