According to reports from the Sunday People (printed edition, 11/02/2018 – page 51), Watford will demand a £25 million transfer fee for Abdoulaye Doucoure should Tottenham retain their interest this summer.

The Sun reported last week that Spurs are lining up a surprise move for the Watford star. Mauricio Pochettino was reportedly present to scout the player during Watford’s 4-1 win over Chelsea last week.

The Argentine is reportedly pleased with what he saw and will be looking to make a summer bid for the 25-year-old.

Doucoure has enjoyed an excellent campaign for Watford, and he is currently the leading scorer for them in the Premier League with seven goals.

The Sunday People claims that Watford are in no hurry to sell him, and are confident of tying him down to a new deal on £60,000-a-week.

Should Spurs make a move for him?

Spurs have a wealth of quality in central midfield, but Doucoure could be a decent addition. Moreover, the price quoted for him is well within their range.

Most importantly, if Pochettino is convinced about his ability, then he must have envisioned a role for him. Given his age, quality, and price tag, he should be a good option for Spurs, although there are better alternatives elsewhere.
