Jorge Segura’s club Envigado claim to have sold him to Watford.
In Juan Camilo Zuniga Watford already have one Colombian
Watford have signed Colombian defender Jorge Segura, his current club have announced Envigado have announced on Twitter.
The 20-year-old plays for Envigado in Colombia’s top flight and recently appeared four times for Colombia’s under-20 side as they came sixth in South America’s under-20 championships.
Envigado say he won’t depart until June this year.
Segura broke into the team last season and made 22 league starts but having not yet played senior international football it would appear unlikely that he can get a work permit to play in England.
It stands to reason therefore that Watford’s owners, the Pozzo family, may be purchasing Segura either to play for one of the other clubs they own or to sell him on for profit.
The fact that the Hornets haven’t made any announcement about the transfer would lend extra weight to this theory.
Player turnover has been high since the Pozzo family bought Watford
Segura isn’t the only defender linked to Watford currently, with it reported last week by Futbol.as that the club have agreed a deal to sign Kiko Femenia in the summer.
