Everton have been linked with a move for Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure for a while now. The Frenchman wants to leave the Hornets for Goodison Park this summer with the Toffees keen as well. (Daily Mail)
Carlo Ancelotti wants to strengthen his midfield ahead of the new Premier League season. Doucoure would be a very impressive signing but Watford’s £30 million valuation has remained the stumbling block.
Everton are reluctant to meet that asking price. The Toffees’ first bid to sign the Frenchman was reportedly in the region of £18 million, which was immediately rejected by Watford. (FootMercato)
The Toffees are still trying hard to secure a deal for Doucoure and it now looks like Watford have found a way to help them get the deal over the line this summer.
Liverpool Echo claim today that Watford are ready to ask for an Everton player on loan for next season in the deal which would see Doucoure make the move to Goodison Park.

The report does not reveal who Watford would prefer but if Everton agree, that would surely help reduce the Hornets’ valuation of their star midfielder.
Doucoure would bolster Everton’s midfield massively. The Frenchman can play anywhere across central midfield. He has the quality to drive into the opposition half and on his day, not many can stop him.
It will be interesting to see how Everton will respond to Watford’s reported demand. It clearly makes sense for them to take the deal, especially if the Hornets are prepared to accept a player who won’t be a part of Ancelotti’s plans for next season.
