According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (print edtion; 7th January 2018; page 66), Watford are plotting fresh contract talks with Richarlison and Abdoulaye Doucoure as they attract interest from Tottenham and Arsenal respectively.

The pair have been vital to the Hornets’ success this season. Midfielder Doucoure currently tops the club’s goalscoring charts this term, with six goals coming in 21 Premier League appearances in his second campaign at Vicarage Road.

The Sun on Sunday reports that he is currently on the Gunners’ radar, while the Daily Mirror reported at the weekend that Everton were having a look at the 25-year-old as they struggle to get a deal for Steven N’Zonzi across the line.

Similarly, Richarlison is attracting attention from one of Watford’s Premier League rivals, with The Sun on Sunday reporting that Spurs want the Brazilian after his exciting start to life in England, with five goals and four assists coming so far this season.

However, it appears that Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton may face a fight trying to land either of the pair as The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 7th January 2018; page 66) reports that Watford want to offer them new contracts which will see Doucoure’s wage rise to £70,000 a week and Richarlison’s pay double to £45,000 a week.

Given the form that the pair have shown this season, they would arguably be great additions to any of the teams that have been linked with potential moves. And perhaps it may not be out of the question to suggest that news of the reported contract plans may just tempt the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal to consider trying their luck before either commits their future to Watford.
