Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are amongst the sides who may be interested by the news coming out of Watford.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Watford may feel forced to sell Liverpool and Tottenham target Abdoulaye Doucoure at the end of the season to ensure that they remain in the black after announcing a £4 million profit for 2016/17.

Doucoure – who joined for just £6 million in 2016 – has enjoyed a stunning season at Vicarage Road, scoring seven goals to top the club’s goalscoring charts by two. Unsurprisingly, his form has not gone unnoticed.

The Mirror reports that the Reds, Spurs and Arsenal are all looking at the 25-year-old, who is rated at £40 million. And it appears that the trio may be about to get a major boost in their hopes of potentially landing the Frenchman.

The Mirror suggests that Watford’s need to ensure that the books remain balanced may leave them feeling forced to sell Doucoure at the end of the campaign, while Richarlison is another player that they could potentially cash in on.

Major boost for Tottenham and Liverpool?

The Mirror’s report certainly appears to open the door for the interested sides to potentially make their move in the summer and potentially land Doucoure ahead of next season.

And if Watford really are in need of selling one of their key men, Mauricio Pochettino or Jurgen Klopp may perhaps feel that they could potentially land the midfielder for slightly less than his £40 million valuation, which would certainly be a plus given the form that he has shown for much of this season.

But with Watford still announcing a profit, they perhaps should not expect a massive discount on Doucoure’s asking price if either Spurs or Liverpool are plotting a summer move.
