Watford’s owners are reportedly unhappy with Walter Mazzarri’s style of play.

Watford manager Walter Mazzarri faces losing his job at the end of the season despite his side currently sitting 12th, it is being reported.

The Telegraph says that Watford’s owners are unimpressed with the brand of football Mazzarri has played, while the fact he still speaks to the media through a translator has also rankled.

The 55-year-old signed a three-year deal when he arrived at Vicarage Road in the summer, having previously managed Inter Milan and Napoli.

His Hornets side are one place higher than they finished last season, while if current form continues they’ll end with 45 points – the same total as last campaign.

That wasn’t enough for Quique Sanchez Flores to keep his job, and given he also guided the team to an FA Cup semi-final it’s hard for Mazzarri to claim he has overseen progression.

Fulham manager Slavisa JokanovicSlavisa Jokanovic was not retained as Watford manager in 2015 despite leading them to the Premier League, so Mazzarri would not be a huge surprise

However according to the report the biggest cause for concern to the Pozzo family, Watford’s owners, is the lack of attacking flair Mazzarri’s team has shown despite forwards including Isaac Success, Stefano Okaka and Roberto Pereyra arriving in the summer and M’Baye Niang in January.

Should Mazzarri lose his job he will be the eighth manager to be replaced by the Pozzos in five years at the club.
