The Hornets have expressed an interest in signing Barcelona ace Gerard Deulofeu, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

New Watford boss Javi Gracia will be determined to bolster his ranks at Vicarage Road before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday, as he looks to address his side’s mid-season slump.

Mundo Deportivo claims that the Spaniard is a big fan of the 23-year-old, and sees the former Everton winger as the ideal addition to is squad this month, as he looks to inject some quality and pace into his attacking department.

The Hertfordshire outfit currently sit in 10th position in the Premier League table, although they are just four points clear of the drop zone, and the addition of some fresh faces will be vitally important, if they are to enjoy a respectable league finish this season.

Deulofeu returned to the Camp Nou from Everton in the summer, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £10.6 million, but has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular, making just five league starts all season long.

He still has a lot to offer at the very highest level, however, and would surely add a certain level of quality to the Hornets squad, if they do in fact manage to sign him before the transfer window slams shut.
