The free agent is a reported transfer target for Watford.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Watford are in talks to sign free agent Danny Welbeck.

The 28-year-old left Arsenal on a free transfer this summer, and it seems as though the Hornets are trying to secure themselves a bargain.

Sky Sports claims that Watford have entered talks with Welbeck’s agent regarding bringing the Englishman to Vicarage Road.

And there is obviously no time constraints in the transfer, as the forward is a free agent.

Verdict

The 42-capped England international has experienced numerous problems with injuries over the past two or three years, but on his day, he is still a top class forward.

He possesses blistering pace over short distances, and he would provide Watford with an entirely different option in the final third.

His extortionate wage demands could prove problematic for the Hertfordshire outfit, however.

According to the Sun, Welbeck is demanding £100,000 per week, and that could very well put off Watford, considering his previous injury problems.

If a compromise can be reached, however, it might just be worth Watford taking a risk on the former Gunner.
