The Argentine has caught the eye in Serie A in 2014-15.

Earlier this week it was reported that West Ham had a bid rejected for Argentine winger Diego Perotti. Tutto Mercato Web stated that The Hammers had lodged a £5.8 million bid for the player, who is currently with Genoa. The Serie A club seemingly have no desire to sell the player, who they only snapped up from Sevilla last summer, despite Premier League interest.

Now it is also being reported that Watford are willing to make a move to the player, using their links in the Italian game to push through a deal.

Canal Genoa is reporting that The Hornets are keen on the player and made their first contact about bringing him to Vicarage Road ten days ago.

The fee however looks to be more than the amount West Ham tried to pinch him for. They report that Watford would have to pay up to £8.6 million for the player – which would be a club record signing, beating the £3.25 million they spent on Nathan Ellington in August 2007.

Perotti played 27 times for Genoa last season and scored four goals, so Watford fans will be wondering why such money is reportedly on the table.

But the report claims the two clubs are still in contact over Perotti’s potential switch to Hertfordshire.
