Joao Mario is said to be a target for West Ham, and they could have received a boost after Watford were blocked in their approach.
The same website reported over the weekend that the Hammers wanted to sign the 25-year-old on loan this month, with a loan fee of £1.3million touted. It is also claimed that the east Londoners would have to cough up his wages.
However, the Independent have quoted Moyes as saying “I don’t think so”, when asked if West Ham were to complete the signing of the Euro 2016 winner and that allowed Watford to steal in and make an offer.
That approach has seemingly been turned down by Mario himself, with the report claiming that he is not particularly interested in a “change of shirt”, despite starting just five of his 14 Serie A appearances this season.
It is believed that Sevilla have now also entered the race for Mario, though, and are willing to give Inter Joaquin Correa in return which could interest the San Siro giants. Talks have been underway for some time.
If Moyes is to land Mario on loan before the end of the transfer window, he will be buoyed by Mario’s decision to reject Watford but he must move quickly to counteract any Sevilla offer.
The attacker has three and a half years remaining on his current deal at Inter, but his future is in doubt as he remains behind the likes of Ivan Perisic and Antonio Candreva in the pecking order under Luciano Spalletti.
