Watford may be closing in on the young French attacker.

According to Sky Sports News, Watford look set to sign AC Milan winger M’Baye Niang on loan this month.

Citing their colleagues in Italy, Sky Sports News claims Watford have agreed a loan deal in principle for the 22-year-old but are waiting for the player to decide if he wants to move to Vicarage Road.

A loan fee of £1million has been agreed with Milan wanting £13.6million to make the switch permanent in the summer.

Niang is predominantly a left winger although he can operate on the opposite flank or as a strike if required.

This season he has featured 18 times in Serie A, scoring three goals and providing three assists in the process.

Napoli's Jorginho (R) in action against M'Baye Niang of AC Milan.

He has a total of 12 goals and 10 assists in 77 matches for Milan and has also turned out for Caen and Montpellier in the past.

A temporary deal would be a coup for Watford as they look to climb up the Premier League table, and if Niang does prove himself in the English top flight they would then have a chance to sign him for a potentially bargain fee given the current market.
