Report: Watford expecting Everton to make third Marco Silva approach

Everton have already offered to pay Watford £8.5 million for Marco Silva, and could return with an improved bid it seems.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Watford are expecting Everton to return with a fresh bid for Marco Silva – even after seeing an £8.5 million offer for the Portuguese rejected by the Hornets.

The Toffees have so far been unable to fill the managerial vacancy at Goodison Park during the international break, with a number of names being linked with the post following Ronald Koeman’s departure last month.

It appears however, that the Everton hierarchy have settled on making Silva the man they want to permanently replace Koeman, having made two approaches for the 40-year-old already, with the latter involving the Toffees offering the staggering seven-figure amount.

The Mail reports that Watford are expecting another approach from their Premier League rivals, but the report adds that the Hornets have no intention of acquiescing unless the former Hull City boss makes it clear that he wants to leave Vicarage Road.

Interestingly, the Mail adds that Silva is interested in speaking to Everton, but with no release clause, he may not get the chance.

Silva has done a tremendous job with Watford, and impressed with Hull before his spell with the Hornets, so it is little surprise that Everton are keen to talk to him. However, it is surprising that they are clearly willing to pay such a large amount to get him out of his contract. Whether they are willing to pay even more remains to be seen, but Watford appear to fear that another bid is coming from Merseyside.
