Watford are reportedly close to signing Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs this summer.

Premier League outfit Watford are closing in on Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs, according to reports from The Mirror.

West Bromwich Albion have had shown an interest in the England international, who has 10 caps for his country, but they walked away after their £10 million bid was rejected.

Newcastle United have been linked with a move as well, but it is Watford who are leading the race for his signature.

Kieran Gibbs (L) and Mesut Oezil of Arsenal look on prior to the Premier League match between Southampton and Arsenal at St Mary's Stadium on May 10, 2017 in Southampton, England.

The report claims that Watford are in advanced talks with Arsenal, and are in “pole position” to sign the defender.

Gibbs started his youth career at Arsenal and broke into the senior team in 2007. He has made 230 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions.

Last season, Arsene Wenger used Nacho Monreal as the club’s first choice left-back ahead of Gibbs. And with Arsenal signing Sead Kolasinac this summer, Gibbs has become surplus to requirements at the club.

He was left out of the Gunners’ Emirates Cup squad by Wenger, and the player is ready to move on.

Watford have already signed Will Hughes from Derby and Chelsea’s Nathaniel Chalobah, and Gibbs would be a fantastic addition to the squad.
