Bundesliga left-back and Germany international Marvin Plattenhardt is on his way to the Premier League with Watford.

Watford have agreed a fee with Hertha Berlin to sign Germany international Marvin Plattenhardt, according to The Mail (live blog, 10.44am).
The Hornets have an excellent track record when it comes to bringing in high-quality players in bargain deals, think Richarlison, Gerard Deulofeu, Etienne Capoue and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
And Watford’s excellent recruitment department should be patting themselves on the back once again with Plattenhardt apparently on the verge of a move to Vicarage Road.
A technically gifted left-back who has earned seven caps for the German national team, Plattenhardt has spent the last five years at Hertha and established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s very best crossers of the ball.
He is a full-back in the Leighton Baines mould; superb on set-pieces and capable of putting the ball on a sixpence from anywhere on the left-hand flank. Troy Deeney, in particularity, should be thrilled about his arrival.

Plattenhardt is likely to be Watford’s first-choice left-back next season with Greek enforcer Jose Holebas not getting any younger at 35. Adam Masina, meanwhile, doesn’t appear to be part of Javi Gracia’s plans after a dreadful debut season in Hertfordshire.
The Mail reports that Watford are now discussing personal terms.
