Rangers reportedly won’t be signing Brentford playmaker Jota this month.
According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers’ hopes of signing Brentford playmaker Jota are over after the deal proved to be too expensive for the Gers.
The Gers are searching for a new attacking midfielder, as Niko Kranjcar is out for the rest of the season, whilst Josh Windass has suffered some niggling injuries this term.

With the January transfer window now open, Rangers will be hoping to get players in quickly having lost 2-1 to Celtic on Saturday, and one player has been mentioned as a target for some time now.
The Scottish Sun recently reported that Rangers boss Mark Warburton was hoping to snap up Brentford playmaker Jota, having worked with the Spaniard at Griffin Park.
Brentford’s Jota celebrates
However, The Scottish Sun now report that a deal is off, after financial terms for a deal to take him on loan and then sign him permanently proved to be beyond Rangers’ reach, with Warburton now looking at alternative targets.
Jota, 25, starred under Warburton with 11 goals during the 2014/15 season, but joined La Liga side Eibar on an 18-month loan deal back in January of last year.
With just three league starts to his name this season, Jota became an outcast at Eibar and has now returned to Brentford, with manager Dean Smith seemingly happy to reintegrate him into his side after Rangers backed out of their pursuit to reunite him with Warburton.
The Gers boss is now believed to be looking elsewhere, and will be hoping to get a deal done quickly, which will most likely be a loan deal to cover for Kranjcar’s injury.
