Dundee are interested in signing Rangers hitman Zak Rudden, according to The Scottish Sun.

The 19-year-old quit Rangers to join Falkirk on loan last summer and netted 12 Championship goals during the 2018-19 campaign.

Rudden doesn’t turn 20 until February and with so many strikers ahead of him in the pecking order at Ibrox – including Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos for now – another short-term spell might be ideal.

And according to The Scottish Sun, new Dundee boss James McPake is targeting the Gers youngster.

The report doesn’t mention whether they want him on loan or a permanent but, going by what Steven Gerrard said earlier this year, a permanent move just won’t happen.

The Rangers boss told The Scottish Sun in March that he had a lot of ‘admiration’ for young Rudden and that he can see a long-term future at Auchenhowie for the marksman.

As things stand, Gerrard has Morelos, Defoe, Kyle Lafferty and Greg Stewart is likely to join shortly, which means there’s no way that Rudden will get first-team action next term.
