Cleverley has impressed since leaving Everton for Watford on loan in January.

Walter Mazzarri has instructed Watford to sign Everton loanee Tom Cleverley on a permanent basis, The Sun reports.

Cleverley moved to the Hornets on a half-season loan in January, having found his Toffees chances limited by the emergence of Tom Davies and £20 million capture of Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United.

And the 27-year-old has made an immediate impression, losing only one of his first six matches for the Vicarage Road side and creating two of their goals.

It was reported in January that Watford have an option to make Cleverley’s move permanent this summer (Sky Sports) and it appears the club’s Italian boss Mazzarri has already made up his mind.

Everton are understood to have fought off competition from other top flight clubs to land the former England international on a free transfer less than two years ago, and with three years still to run on the player’s contract, the Toffees stand to make a significant profit should a summer sale go ahead.

Cleverley, it seems, would have no issue with a permanent transfer, being quoted as saying by The Sun: “Hopefully I can stay but we’ll have to see.”
