According to The Sun, Thiago Silva’s wage demands could be a problem for Tottenham Hotspur as Jose Mourinho plots a move to sign him.
This weekend, Paris Saint-Germain confirmed that Silva is leaving the club. After eight years in the French capital, Silva is now moving on.
Silva racked up 310 appearances for PSG, winning seven league titles and 14 domestic trophies. He turns 36 in September, meaning his best days are ultimately behind him, but he’s still attracting interest.
This report notes that Arsenal and Everton are keen. However, Mourinho allegedly wants to bring Silva to Tottenham, viewing him as a bargain on a free transfer.
However, the wage demands are though to be of concern. He was earning £350,000-a-week at PSG, and there is no chance Tottenham will get anywhere close to that kind of agreement.
Spurs are unlikely to have much money to spend this summer due to the global pandemic. Silva appeals as a free agent, especially with Jan Vertonghen set to leave for nothing.

Tottenham are in no position to be giving huge money to a player the wrong side of 30 though, and that surely makes a deal for Silva seem unlikely.
Silva would have to take around a third of his PSG pay for Tottenham to stand a chance, and the presence of his former AC Milan and Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti at Everton is a real threat too.
