Everton’s Premier League misfit Cenk Tosun looks set to miss out on a return to Besiktas with Bursa claiming that the Turkish Super Lig giants don’t want to meet his wage demands.
Tosun’s contract will expire on July 1st.
Given that successive Toffees managers – Carlo Ancelotti, Rafael Benitez and Frank Lampard – have left him on the fringes of the Everton squad, an extension looks about as likely as Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard purchasing a season ticket on Gwladys Street right now.
Tosun, however, is not exactly in a position of strength heading into the summer transfer window.
After all, potential suitors won’t exactly be falling over each other to sign a 30-year-old who’s started just six league games since the beginning of 2019/20.
Tosun has played a grand total of six Premier League minutes this term too.
What next for Cenk Tosun?
And, according to Bursa, Besiktas are reluctant to stump up £30,000-a-week for a man who will turn 31 in June. A man who has missed over 40 games due to injury in the last couple of years.
Tosun made just four appearances during a loan spell back at Besiktas 12 months ago, while a promising start to a spell at Crystal Palace was ruined by an ill-timed cruciate ligament rupture.

The report claims that Besiktas have now turned their attention to another centre-forward. Umut Buzok, five years younger than Tosun, will arrive at Istanbul on the back of a prolific spell at Kasimpasa.
“My contract ends at the end of the season,” Tosun explained in January. “I want to finish this season here (at Everton) and go somewhere at the end of the season.”
Now, however, the picture appears to have changed considerably.
