Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez is reportedly unlikely to make a move to Marseille.
According to reports from La Provence, Carlos Sanchez’s prospective move to Marseille will not be coming into fruition due to the midfielder’s large wage demands.
Sanchez joined Aston Villa from Elche in the summer of 2014 and on the basis of midfielder’s performances for the Colombian national team at the World Cup in Brazil, many thought that he could prove to be a quality signing for the Midlands outfit.
Unfortunately though, Sanchez has been unable to produce his best during his time at Villa Park so far and following the club’s relegation into the Championship, it seems all but certain that the 30-year-old will be leaving this summer.
It was reported by the Birmingham Mail earlier this month that French Ligue 1 outfit Marseille were interested in securing the services of Sanchez and a fee of around £3 million had been mooted.
Villa are understandably keen on dispensing with Sanchez this summer but it seems like the move to Marseille may not come into fruition as La Provence have gone on to reveal that the midfielder’s high wage demands is proving to be a stumbling block in the prospective deal.
The report adds that another Villa midfielder in Jordan Veretout, who is also a target for Marseille (L’Equipe), has made huge salary requests as well and the French giants are unlikely to pursue the 23-year-old.
