Arsenal are interested in signing Vinicius Junior, but the Real Madrid youngster does not want to join Mikel Arteta’s side, according to Defensa Central.

It has been reported by the Spanish news outlet that Arsenal manager Arteta has asked for a loan deal for Vinicius in the January transfer window.

Madrid do not want to sell or send the 20-year-old winger out on loan and have made it clear, according to the report, which has added that the Brazil international himself is not willing to leave the Spanish and European giants for the Gunners.

However, the report has claimed that Arsenal have retained their interest in case Madrid change their mind.

Do Arsenal need Vinicius Junior?

Vinicius is a versatile attacking player who can play centrally or out wide.

Described on Madrid’s official website as a player who is ‘nimble, quick’ and who has ‘lightening feet and an eye for goal’, the Brazilian is very talented and can only get better in the coming years.

However, Arsenal are well stocked in the attacking department and do not need another player, especially someone who is only 20 years of age.

The likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah are doing well at the moment, and Arteta should preserve with them instead of bringing in Vinicius.

Meanwhile, Watford striker Troy Deeney has raved about Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney on talkSPORT.

Deeney said on talkSPORT: “I’ve heard he’s exactly the same as James Milner. He’s the best trainer, the best professional, I’ve heard from reliable people that he’s such a good trainer.

“He was gutted when he broke down, but he has immersed himself into what Arsenal is all about.”
