Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen could yet save his career with the club.
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen is set to hold talks with boss Mauricio Pochettino this week about his future.
Janssen, 24, was a big signing for Spurs in the summer of 2016, arriving after smashing 31 goals in 49 games for Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
Whilst he was expected to be the ideal competition for Harry Kane, Janssen struggled in England and scored just six times in his debut season with the club.
Janssen headed out on loan to Fenerbahce last season before returning to Spurs, where he has been pretty much frozen out under Pochettino.
However, the Daily Mail now report that Janssen is set for talks with Pochettino this week, and he could be given a chance to resurrect his Spurs career in a shock turn of events.
Janssen featured for Tottenham’s Under-23’s against Liverpool on Monday night as he steps up his recovery from injury, playing 45 minutes as he works his way back to fitness.
It’s believed that Pochettino could hand Janssen another chance if he proves his fitness by the end of the month, even if it’s unlikely that he will ever become a top Premier League striker.
Spurs allegedly want to cash in on either Llorente or Janssen, but with the former being easier to sell, Janssen could yet have a future at Spurs after all, just like Moussa Sissoko.
