Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen could head back to the club soon.
According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, Fenerbahce could send striker Vincent Janssen back to Tottenham Hotspur imminently as a result of his injury problems.
Janssen, 23, was a major signing for Spurs in the summer of 2016, as they swooped to land him from AZ Alkmaar after his 31 goals in 49 games during the 2015-16 season.
The Dutch international hitman struggled in his first season with Tottenham though, scoring just six goals in 35 appearances as he failed to convince Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs fans that he could offer suitable cover for Harry Kane.
Pochettino really wasn’t convinced, as he not only moved to sign Fernando Llorente from Swansea City back in August 2017, but then loaned Janssen out to Turkish side Fenerbahce a month later, casting him aside.
Janssen has so far hit three goals in 12 appearances for Fenerbahce, whilst he has also notched two assists as he either looks to save his Spurs career or earn a permanent move.
Now, Fanatik report that Fenerbahce could send Janssen back to Spurs in the very near future, as they fear that he could miss around three months of action, ruling him out for the majority of the rest of the season.
It’s noted that Janssen has suffered issues with his knee, toe and thumb in recent weeks, and after initially being told that he would be back in three weeks after his knee injury against Bursaspor lat month, it now seems that he faces a lengthier spell on the sidelines.
The report even notes that, if Fenerbahce can send Janssen back to Spurs, they have lined up Samuel Eto’o as a replacement – and Tottenham will now be left wondering what the future holds for their unwanted striker.
